AAU Dataset Description

The “AAU.tar.xz” archive contains the time series measurement data and calculated thermal and energy KPIs obtained from the experimental tests conducted at the Aalborg University (AAU) pilot site. The experiments were carried out for four different configurations and four IT load levels, resulting in a total of 16 dataset files.

The investigated configurations are:

  • Baseline: original configuration before retrofit actions

  • Plate: filler plates applied to inactive server positions

  • Wall: separating wall applied to improve airflow separation

  • Plate + Wall: combined use of filler plates and the separating wall

Each configuration was tested at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% IT load. The archive contains the following csv files:

  • Baseline: BaselineTest_25percent, BaselineTest_50percent, BaselineTest_75percent, BaselineTest_100percent

  • Plate: PlateTest_25percent, PlateTest_50percent, PlateTest_75percent, PlateTest_100percent

  • Wall: WallTest_25percent, WallTest_50percent, WallTest_75percent, WallTest_100percent

  • Plate + Wall: PlateWallTest_25percent, PlateWallTest_50percent, PlateWallTest_75percent, PlateWallTest_100percent

All files have the same data structure and contain the following columns:

Column

Description

Time

Measurement timestamp

Inlet Temp. Avg.

Average server inlet air temperature

Outlet Temp. Avg.

Average server outlet air temperature

Cooling Supply Avg.

Average cooling supply air temperature

Cooling Return Avg.

Average cooling return air temperature

PIT

Total IT equipment power consumption

PDC

Total data center power consumption

The file names indicate both the tested retrofit configuration and the corresponding IT load level. This structure allows direct comparison of thermal and energy performance between the baseline and retrofit configurations under equivalent IT load conditions.

PSNC Dataset Description

The “PSNC.tar.xz” archive contains the time series measurement data and calculated thermal KPIs obtained from the experimental campaign conducted at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) pilot site.

The archive contains one dataset file (PSNC_Dataset.csv). This file represents the monitored PSNC configuration used for the field validation study and includes the main temperature measurements together with the thermal KPIs used to assess airflow and cooling performance. Since power measurements were not available for the PSNC pilot, power-related KPIs are not included. The dataset otherwise contains the same temperature related data and thermal KPIs as the AAU dataset. This dataset can be used to analyze inlet and outlet temperature behavior, cooling supply and return conditions, and the effects of recirculation, leakage, and airflow distribution during the experimental measurement period.
